Sporting our brand new t-shirts (ethically sourced, of course!), the Worker Support Centre team was delighted to welcome Scotland’s First Minister and our local representative, John Swinney MSP, to our new office in Perth last Friday!
We presented our unique Five Step Exploitation Prevention Model to stop human trafficking for labour exploitation across Perth & Kinross, Scotland and the UK, and footage of the squalid housing many workers his constituency are forced to live in, whilst paying eye watering rents.
We also discussed the other stark realities faced by people who come to Scotland to pick our fruit and vegetables or care for our sick and elderly relatives.
From unpaid wages and severe injuries on farms to insecurity and discrimination in care, these issues demand attention from decision-makers, and solutions shaped by workers themselves.
It was encouraging to hear the First Minister’s views on how we can keep working together to build a Scotland that truly welcomes and protects every worker.

We’re proud to be building connections across the region - linking local organisations, workers and communities to strengthen fairness, safety and dignity for all.
